EMWIT is a continuation of the project EMPOWERING - M-Women in Industry. We are expanding our existing activities to include the technology sector and engaging companies more closely in removing barriers to employment. We are combining support for women with work on recruitment, promotion and staff development – so that the skills they acquire can translate into real career opportunities.
The project is aimed primarily at millennial women working in technology and industry, as well as those preparing to enter these sectors or returning to work after a career break. Mentoring, coaching and educational tools will help participants identify their own strengths, develop leadership skills and plan the next steps in their careers. At the same time, HR professionals will learn to recognise bias and implement fairer practices within their organisations.
Foundation activities:
- Development of the LearnHub platform and a game for self-assessment of competences — tailoring tools to career paths in technology and industry, integrating multilingual content, and providing technical support to partners.
- Delivery of a six-month mentoring and coaching programme for 20 women in Poland, which includes work on skills and individual career development plans.
- Organisation of training sessions and knowledge-sharing events for 10 HR professionals in Poland, relating to equal opportunities in the recruitment, appraisal and promotion of staff.
- Co-organisation of educational visits abroad for HR staff and support in drawing up plans for changes that can be implemented within companies.
- Disseminating results and jointly developing practical recommendations, which will enable the project’s experiences to be put to use beyond the circle of its participants.
Effects and results:
- The updated LearnHub platform and an interactive game for self-assessment of skills, supplemented by hundreds of new or updated educational resources.
- A mentoring programme for 100 women across five countries, personalised career development plans and Open Badges – digital badges confirming the skills acquired.
- A development programme for 50 HR professionals, comprising training, mutual mentoring and study visits abroad for 15 people.
- Practical tools for businesses: the „Inclusive HR in Tech and Industry” competency framework, implementation guidelines and model solutions to support equal opportunities.
- The European community of women in technology and industry, enabling the exchange of experiences and mutual support.
- A guide to career development and recommendations for institutions and decision-makers, based on the experiences of the participants and partner organisations.
Why is this important to us?

Women’s professional development should not rely solely on learning how to overcome barriers. It is also important to reduce the number of these barriers. That is why at EMWIT we combine mentoring and education with work on how companies recruit, assess and support their female employees. Our role is to create the tools and learning environment that help women move from reflecting on their own careers to taking concrete action.
