The aim of the project Remote Education Standards was to create universal, accessible and practical standards for delivering remote learning. These standards are intended to support both education and training institutions and online practitioners - from educators to trainers, animators and consultants. The project responds to the need for a qualitative structuring of remote learning, which has particularly emerged during the pandemic.
Foundation activities:
- Substantive co-development of both standards: for institutions and for coaching staff,
- Preparation and editing of a book publication containing the complete set of guidelines (including 92 standards, 223 guidelines and 12 learning options),
- Development of teaching methods and materials to support the trainer's work in the online environment,
- Production of an e-learning course containing more than 50 lessons on quality remote education,
- Promotion of project results, including seminars, conferences and expert publications.
Effects and results:
- 92 remote education standards (for institutions and for educational staff),
- Comprehensive book publication and e-book available free of charge online,
- Online MOOC course with 8 modules and over 50 lessons,
- Training programmes for educational staff, with three options (onsite, online and asynchronous),
- All under an open CC-BY licence.
- All made available free of charge under a Creative Commons open licence.
Why is this important to us?

Remote education requires not only tools, but above all quality and accessibility standards. As a foundation that has been supporting the development of digital education for many years, we see this project as a foundation - something to which not only institutions and trainers can refer, but also future sectoral, grant and regulatory actions. This is our contribution to sorting out the 'wild west' of e-learning.

The project 'Standards for remote education' benefits from a grant of €123,870 received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Funds. The aim of the project is to develop remote education standards for education and training providers in order to ensure high quality learning.
